  Who are we?

Africa . . . the mere mention of that continent can fill a person's mind with images of deserts, rainforests, a vast array of wildlife and, more recently, children whose bodies have been ravaged by starvation and AIDS.

Of all the countries in Africa reeling under the devastation caused by AIDS, Zambia’s suffering is one of the worst. According to UNICEF, there are currently 1.6 million orphans in Zambia--a number expected to exceed more than 2 million by 2010.

It is amidst this kind of devastation that Father’s Heart in International actively works to bring food, education and, more importantly, the hope of Jesus Christ to the people—particularly the children—of Zambia.

Meet Tommy Griner

Tommy Griner is the founder and international director of Father’s Heart International, an organization dedicated to hunger relief and church planting through the support of national African pastors.

Tommy has been in ministry for more than 30 years.  Tommy and his wife, Kathie, have been married for 30 years and live in Nevada. They have three daughters, Danielle, Bethany and Lacy. <return to menu>

 Ministries of Father's Heart

The vision of FHI is to bring healing, viability and the salvation of Jesus Christ to the people of Africa through the ministries of hunger relief, evangelism, pastoral training and education. This vision is being realized through:

• Feeding and Child Sponsorship Programs To care for, protect and raise orphaned and vulnerable children, Father’s Heart matches orphans with loving church families and provides the necessary food supplements to feed each child. Along with this, FHI works with local, church-based schools that have a Christ-centered curriculum, providing children with the hope and opportunity that come through a good education. As a result, these children have a greater chance of becoming godly young adults ready to enter society as a blessing to their communities and their country.

• Evangelistic Campaigns: For the restoration of countries reeling from economic crisis, critical food shortages and the AIDS pandemic, an awareness of the need for a moral lifestyle reflecting personal and professional integrity is greatly needed. FHI seeks to accomplish this through evangelistic crusades and the public preaching of the Word of God, by which people come to salvation through Christ. We labor to disciple these new believers and enfold them into the local church.

• Pastor Conferences and our Pastor Sponsorship Program help shape the contour of churches and thus the mind and practice of African communities. Teaching from an African perspective, FHI addresses many of the issues that confront local pastors and their churches, particularly the issues of AIDS, abstinence and child abuse. FHAfrica also addresses the need for local churches to take responsibility for 'at risk' children, including their care, food, education, salvation and spiritual growth.

• Building Projects To help restore the African church and its communities, FHI is committed to the building of church and school structures, repair of water wells and the provision of educational materials so as to aid in the progress toward self-sufficiency of the local church. <return to menu>

Doctrinal Statement

WE BELIEVE that there is ONE LIVING and TRUE GOD, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory, and that this triune God created all, upholds all and governs all.

WE BELIEVE that the Bible--both the Old and New Testament--is the Word of God, fully inspired, without error in the original manuscripts, and the infallible rule of faith and practice. We believe that Scripture contains eternal truths that are to be practiced and experienced by believers for all time.

WE BELIEVE in GOD the FATHER, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through faith in Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE in JESUS CHRIST, God’s only begotten and unique Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal, visible return to earth to establish His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, eternal blessing of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked.

WE BELIEVE in the HOLY SPIRIT, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ. We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding Helper, Teacher and Guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercising of all biblical gifts of the Spirit.

WE BELIEVE that all MEN are sinners by nature and choice, and are therefore under condemnation; that GOD regenerates by the Holy Spirit those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord; that Jesus Christ baptizes the seeking believer with the Holy Spirit and power for service, often subsequent to regeneration.

WE BELIEVE in the universal CHURCH, the living spiritual Body, of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members.

WE BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus Christ committed two ORDINANCES to the Church: Baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe in baptism by immersion and the communion of the Holy Spirit for ordination of pastors, elders and deacons, and for receiving gifts of the Spirit or healing. <return to Menu>

Mission Statement

Father's Heart exists to demonstrate the practical love of Christ by facilitating African churches as they endeavor to care for their local communities--body, soul and spirit. We seek to bring healing, viability and the salvation of Jesus Christ to the people of Africa through the ministries of hunger relief, evangelism, pastoral training and education. Stewardship - Use of Funds

Father's International is an affliate of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA). Father's Heart International uses your money as wisely as possible. Operating costs and service expenses are essential to run a sponsorship programs. Keeping these expenses to a minimum is our priority.  FHI is also dedicated to accurately accounting for all donations to ensure that all monies are applied to the program and community where most needed.
