34 Years of Friendship and Ministry . . . God willing, 20 more in Africa

(from our 1st quater newsletter)

Thirty four years ago we were single and dreaming big dreams. God had touched our lives as young men, and captured us for the Kingdom of God. In the ensuing years, each of us married, had families, and became senior pastors of mission minded churches.

But now the pace is quickening. As each of us approaches sixty years of age, we see 20 productive years of ministry before us. We know time is short. And what’s new? The Bible says life is but a vapor and so it is. So, from this heightened vantage point, we are picking up the tempo. Our focus is becoming sharper, and Africa is more keenly in our sights where the sands of the hour glass are running out as well. Forces are at work to destroy this great continent and its people.

A race is now in motion for the soul of Africa. It is a race between Christianity and Islam. Without exaggeration, thousands of mosques and schools are being built; free education and food are being offered. And the goal is not benign; it is an effort to indoctrinate Africa, particularly the children, into a Muslim worldview. And more often than not, this worldview is militant.

One thing is for sure, the future of Africa and the halt of Islam rests in the planting of new spirit-filled churches, aggressive evangelism, teaching God’s Kingdom, and breaking the cycle of poverty and disease through education. This is what we want to do…and must do. But we need your help!

In the past several years Father’s Heart has assisted Bishop Peter Ndhlovu in planting over 300 churches and establishing 89 church based Christian schools in Zambia, Malawi, Congo, Mozambique, Liberia, Namibia, and other countries. We have also helped him feed thousands of malnourished African children. But, more needs to be done.

Islam is sweeping into Africa at an alarming rate. The race is for the children and the future of this continent. Will they be educated young Christians, or will they be Muslim radicals? Will Africa serve the rules of Muhammad the dead prophet, or will it serve the great living God and Savior, Jesus Christ?

7 Strategic Goals

…to help stop the religious Islamic surge in Africa
1. Mass Evangelism: Our goal is to conduct at least 5 evangelistic outreaches this year in Africa with the goal of planting 10 new churches. The cost is approximately $7,500 for each rural outreach. This is a small price for a thriving new church that will typically survive several generations, and most importantly, counter the Islamic surge. Thousands will hear the gospel and multitudes will have their lives changed. donate
2. Church Planting: The key to church planting is the pastor. The cost of placing a pastor in the field to begin a new congregation—to move his family, obtain a home, buy food, gather Bibles and Christian literature, purchase a bicycle—is approximately $545. donate or sponsorship
3. Pastor Sponsorship: To help keep pastors in the field and freed up to minister in the difficult rural areas of Africa, Father’s Heart has a pastor sponsorship program. For $30 per month, or $360 a year, you can greatly help one of these pastors fulfill their calling. Your gift will provide food and supplies for the pastor and his family so he can minister unhindered to the villages in his province. sponsor
4. Church & School Buildings: After new Christians are gathered into a congregation by the church planter, the next step is to construct a building for meetings. Nothing helps a young church get going like having its own facility. The structure will also double as a school house during the week. The cost for providing a church/school building is $3,600. Add a toilet for $75 and benches for $450. donate
5. Training Pastors and Teachers: The pastor and his teachers are foundational to our churches and school program. Because of their valuable service, Father’s Heart is committed to train and encourage these laborers by providing training seminars twice a year. The cost to bring a teacher or pastor to a semiannual event is less than $300. This includes transport, lodging, food, and training materials. Please help us bring these saints in for a time of refreshing by designating a gift. donate
6. Child Sponsorships: Thousands of children are in desperate need of help. Our child feeding program is the cornerstone of our schools countering the debilitating affect of malnutrition which is so prevalent in Africa. For $28per month or $336 a year you can sponsor a child and give them a better life. sponsor
7. Outfit a School: A final necessity for the children’s education is school books and supplies. Please consider helping outfit a school for a year. Twelve hundred dollars ($1,200) will ensure students have the necessary books, paper, chalk, and Bibles to complete their education. This is an investment in the future of a nation. donate

Here’s What You Can Do:

1. Pray…which of these goals touches your heart?
2. Ask God…“What do you want me to do?”
3. Respond…Do what the Lord says.
4. Take up the cause…Ask your church if they would sponsor missions in Africa. If they agree, please drop Tom a note.
